Owl Rescued from Labadie Plant

June 30, 2008

Members of the World Bird Sanctuary and staff of AmerenUE’s Labadie Plant in Franklin County recently rescued a great horned owl who had found its way into the power plant.

The owl, which had apparently been trapped in a remote area of the plant for several days, was found sitting near a pool of water. The water probably helped him to stay hydrated as there is no other food source in the plant. “Little Rusty,” as he was named, will be nursed back to health at the World Bird Sanctuary and then released to the Labadie Plant area.

Little Rusty safely in the hands of a member of the World Bird Sanctuary staff.
