Ameren Missouri’s tree trimming program is funded at $50 million annually. Tree trimming addresses overhead lines that were built to serve housing growth over the past four decades. Over the years, trees have been planted or allowed to grow near power lines, where they now jeopardize the system during severe weather. Each year Ameren Missouri trims approximately 4,000 miles of trees along overhead lines - that's the same distance as a trip from St. Louis to Hawaii.
