Utility Scale Wind-Powered Electric Generation

Ameren Missouri continues to work with wind developers who seek partners to develop utility scale wind-powered electric generation, 20 megawatts (MW) and larger, for our portfolio.

Enough power for 26,000 households

In June 2009 Ameren Missouri announced the signed agreement to purchase 102 MW of wind power from Phase II of Horizon Wind Energy's Pioneer Prairie Wind Farm in Iowa. The wind farm is fully operational with both phases having a total capacity of more than 300 MW.

The power Ameren Missouri is purchasing will tie into the Midwest Independent System Operator (MISO) transmission grid, of which the company is a member, fulfilling our commitment to add 100 megawatts of renewable capacity to serve its Missouri customers by 2010.
